Card Payment and Security

I would say that it is more secure now since PCI SSC got formalized. But the basic solution where the sensitive data is written on the card and anyone can see from some distance, cannot be fully secure. But with help of merchants money it has been possible to design counter measures for those risks that have been discovered. These counter measures will prevent more common card number thieves from reaching their goal. But there will still be opportunities for those that have the right resources to analyze weakness in the solutions of merchants payment service providers or acquiring processors. But from the banks perspective this can maybe be enough to lower the cost of fraud to fit in their budget.
